Casey’s Development Corner

Welcome to game development by Casey’s Desk. There are three distinct categories to our development projects; tabletop gaming, video games, and hardware.

The longest runnig category is tabletop gaming. I self published my first game in 2020 under the title GachBuster, It was a passion project that I sunk three years and a lot of money into. I’m excited to eventually revive this project and am still proud of it to this day.

From there I started a few other unfinished projects, including an Alice in Wonderland themed adventure game called Wonder Wars.

The longest continuos project has been the game formerly known as NerdBird and now known as Built Upon Nightmares. The alpha game campaign to test the rewrite is also my longest running game at just over a year and still going strong!

The second category is video games. In 2024 I teamed up with Disco Reptile, formed Pandomime Studios LLC and we published a small video game known as Beasties of Greenhollow.

We’re currently chipping away at a monster raising and dungeon crawl game called Built Upon Nightmares: Shadow Pets.

Lastly is hardware. The D-Realms is a hard fought project that had a great start but has been rocky ever since, mostly due to my own life issues and also a few crazy situations (including a scammer!). It’s still going, though major progress is on hold until I can get the funds together to take the idea to a professional prototyper.

Built Upon Nightmares

Are you an artist? BUN also has an art role play game ypou can play online with your existing characters on Toyhou.se. Need a Toyhou.se link? Ask Casey for one, no strings attached! See you there.

Built Upon Nightmares: Shadow Pets

.My very first ever venture into writing tabletop games was called GachBuster and I completed and self published it in 2020. It took me three years to write and it was a massive labor of love. I put into it everything I ever wanted a tabletop game to be when all I had or knew about at the time was Dungeons & Dragons 2E.

I’ve played a lot of games and learned a lot since then, but the core mechanics of this game continue to stick in the back of my mind. I tested them thoroughly with different groups and found them to be efficient and exciting.

Now after all these years, I intend to revive the core mechanics of GachBuster as a monster catching and collecting sequel to Built Upon Nightmares.

Beasties of Greenhollow

It was a rainy morning spent on the porch. A drizzle chilled me and my coffee as I sat there staring out into the street. My dad was beside me and, turning to me he asked me what I really wanted.

Like a light turning on, I really what I really wanted was to make a video game.

And like that, the ball was set in motion. By a fortuitous event I was introduced to DiscoReptile and together we forged an entry into his Greenhollow universe. I’m glad to have played my part in bringing at least one game into existence.
